(07.05) Quantum obstructions for N=1 infinite distance limits

In this talk, we discuss quantum corrections to classical infinite distance limits in string compactifications to four dimensions with minimal supersymmetry. Focusing on complex structure deformations in Type IIB orientifolds and F-theory compactifications, we use the explicit F-theory geometry, consistency of EFT strings and explicit corrections to establish a quantum obstruction to almost all such limits. If time permits, we show how M-theory on G2 manifolds can be used to find an obstruction also to the remaining limits. Based on work with Jeroen Monnee, Timo Weigand and Max Wiesner.
