(08.01.) Reducing the carbon footprint of high energy physics

Slava Rychkov (CERN)

Path integral dominated QFT thinking for many decades. Here we will discuss how to perform accurate first-principle calculations in strongly coupled QFT using the alternative, Hamiltonian language. As a first example, we will discuss a very simple theory - phi^4 theory in diverse dimensions. The eventual goal is to extend this formalism to theories with fermions (easy) and gauge field (more difficult). Given modest required computational resources, perhaps it can become a green alternative to Lattice QCD?
