Matrix Factorizations and Open String Mirror Symmetry

We review Walcher's approach to open string mirror symmetry for compact Calabi--Yau threefolds. We discuss how the description of D-branes in terms of matrix factorizations is used in this context. In particular, we will show how to compute F-term equations and the effective superpotential via the deformation theory of matrix factorizations.
