Cosmology of LARGE Volume String Compactifications

We discuss some cosmological implications of the so-called LARGE Volume Scenarios which emerge naturally from type IIB flux compactifications on Calabi-Yau three-folds. Their main feature is the presence of an exponentially large volume of the extra dimensions which provides a natural solution of the hierarchy problem within a robust effective field theory. After presenting a detailed analysis of the moduli stabilisation mechanism at the basis of these constructions, we describe an inflationary model which yields observable gravity waves without the need of fine-tuning any of the underlying parameters. Finally we study finite-temperature corrections to these scenarios, and show how they give rise to a decompactification temperature which sets a maximal temperature of our Universe.
