Condensed Matter Theory Seminar: Shining Light on Transition Metal Oxides: Resilient Quasiparticles and the Unveiling of the Hidden Fermi Liquid
Dr. Gabriel Kotliar holds a Board of Governors Professor Chair in the Physics Department at Rutgers University. He is well known for his contributions to the theory of strongly correlated and disordered electron systems. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow, the Presidential Young Investigator Award, the Lady Davies Fellowship, the Guggenheim fellowship the Blaise Pascal Chair and he is a fellow of the American Physical Society. In 2006 he was one of the recipients of the Agilent Technologies Europhysics Prize for the development of the Dynamical Mean Field Theory.
Dr. Kotliar has organized and served in the advisory board for numerous conferences and meetings. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society since 2001 and has coauthored over three hundred publications in refereed Journals. His current research interests include the theory of the Mott transition, superconductivity in strongly correlated electron systems, the electronic structure of transition metal oxides, lanthanides and actinides, and the development of first principles approaches for predicting physical properties of materials.
