KLT relations and new "collinear" relations between scattering amplitudes
hint to a deep connection between gravity and gauge theory. In string
theory, Mellin correspondence between open strings and supergravity and the
single value projection relating heterotic and type I theories, all valid
to all orders in alpha prime, go far beyond what is implied by known string
dualities.
I will discuss these interconnections and speculate on the possible origin
of such a unity of amplitudes.
